Inside we put mesh for a self clean. (I can at least give the straw I later put in there for them a shake and we're good... :) Most everything goes through so the straw lasts much longer.)
Dawn, the hut is approximately 5.5ft x 4ft or so I would guess. For perspective, the goats I have are Nigerian (miniature) goats. I put down roofing rubber and then tin sheets. I recently replaced the tin with shingles because one of my goats hit her knee on the edge when she jumped up and cut it badly so I'd definitely recommend shingles.
If you build one, buy 9 gauge metal sheet for the floor. Pictured is some old metal we had laying around the farm when we bought it but I recently built another shed for my other two goats and the only thing comparable (and works even better!) is the 9 gauge metal.
This goat hut looks great. Can you give me the measurements (estimate) and what you used on the roof?
